What would the iPhone5 look like and what new possibilities would it bring to mobile computing? |
Exciting news for Apple lovers and the rest of the mobile
industry. A lot of noise has been made about the device and everyone is waiting
to see if it would set a new standard in the mobile computing world. I remember
when Apple released the iPhone onto the market for the first time and the way
it opened possibilities in the mobile computing world that had never been done
before. All these opportunities were available in the mobile world but hadn’t
been fully exploited up to this point, until Apple. Back then the only Smartphone
was from Blackberry and then Apple came to redefine the Smartphone.
Fast forward to 2011 and we all can’t wait to see what
happens next with this phone. Lets phase the facts Apple changed the meaning of
mobile computing. They did not re-write the rules but instead they chose to
reinterpret the rules and as a result opening a market that wasn’t been fully
utilized. A huge effect of the entry of Apples
iPhone was Google Android operating system. Which we must be honest has been a
runaway hit. Most people do not give Android that much credit and talk about
the different manufacturers and a whole lot of unnecessary stuff. If you should look at the different
manufacturers of hardware then the iPhone has a larger market share, but if you look at the operating system then Android
is the leader. And it is for two reasons.
One, the Android operating system gives more choices to its
users compared to the iOS with so many restrictions placed on it that are meant
to make its usage easier.
Two, the Android OS has more and better features than the
iOS .
I didn’t want to talk about price since we do have Android devises
that are expensive, but if you want to include that then yes, Android devices
give you more for less money.
I highlighted on the design aspects
because it is evident that Apple in order not to fall out of the competition and
to give the iOS a better user experience had to borrow some features from the Android
OS. I wish I had all the time to go through most of them but here are a few.
- Newsstand
- Notification Centre
- Location based reminders
- Cloud Sync ..................and the list goes on and on.
Clearly this big company known for its innovation is facing
some stiff challenge from Google’s Android which is causing Apple to have to
adapt to the demands of the market.
This to me, is the more reason why this iPhone 5 launch is
really important to me. Is there anything new that Apple could bring to the
table now that they are borrowing ideas from other mobile operating systems?
Will they adopt these changes in a better way or have they lost their power of
innovation. Maybe they will include multiple cameras or 3D cameras to the iPhone,
honestly the expectations are so high for Apple but it seems like they might
not live up to their reputation this time. We all can’t wait to see what would
com out of Apple. So keep your fingers crossed they might just bring out
something that you never ever expected.
